Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Το γνωστό έμβλημα της Γαληνοτάτης Δημοκρατίας της Βενετίας: Ο πτερωτός λέων του Αγίου Μάρκου, ο οποίος εδώ εικονίζεται στο υπέρθυρο της εισόδου του Ναού του Αγίου Γεωργίου (14ος αι.), στο χωρίο Καμαριώτης (σε υψόμετρο 620). Υπενθυμίζεται ότι η Κρήτη διετέλεσε υπό βενετική κυριαρχία από τις αρχές του 13ου αιώνα έως το 1645 (1669 σε ό,τι αφορά το φρούριο του Χάνδακα).

Historical Notice: Τhe well-known emblem of the Most Serene Republic of Venice (the winged lion, symbol of Saint Mark) is painted here above the entrance of the church of Agios Georgios (14th c.), in the village of Kamariotis (620 alt.). The island of Crete was under Venetian rule from the early 13th century to 1645 (1669 in the case of the castle of Candia).
