Identification of the bearer: F. Moro, Venetian official of Candia
Historical Notice: Venetian patrician house, including a doge of Venice (15th c.) and three dukes of Crete (14th and 15th c.). This particular coat-of-arms, seriously damaged today, belongs to a member of the family who assumed official duties in Crete, during the works of fortification carried out in 1543-1544. Irakleio was under Venetian rule from the early 13th century to 1669.
