Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Οίκος Βενετών πατρικίων, που έδωσε μεταξύ των άλλων δύο δόγηδες της Βενετίας τον 17ο αιώνα (Berticci Valier, 1656-1658, και Silvestro Valier, 1694-1700). Το συγκεκριμένο οικόσημο θα μπορούσε να ανήκει σε έναν από αυτούς ή, όπως προτείνει ο μελετητής Αλέκος Φλωράκης, σε μέλος της οικογένειας εγκατεστημένο στην Τήνο, όπως ήταν ο Nicolo Valier, Βενετός προβλέπτης Τήνου το 1624, ή ο συνονόματός του σύνδικος και κάτοικος του νησιού το 1654. Τα αρχικά Z και S πιθανότατα χαράχτηκαν εκ των υστέρων. Υπενθυμίζεται ότι η Τήνος διετέλεσε υπό βενετική κυριαρχία από το 1390 έως το 1714.

Historical Notice: Venetian patrician house, including two doges of Venice in the 17th century (Berticci Valier, 1656-1658, and Silvestro Valier, 1694-1700). This particular coat-of-arms could belong to either of them or, as suggests the scholar Alekos Florakis, to a member of the family established in Tinos, as in the case of Nicolo Valier, Venetian Provveditore of Tinos (1624), or his synonymous sindico and inhabitant of the island (1654). The initials Z and S were probably added at a later date. Tinos was under Venetian rule from 1390 to 1714.
