Στοιχείο: Κάτοικος Κάστρου Ρεθύμνου, στις 22 Δεκεμβρίου 1635 βρισκόταν στο Χάνδακα, όπου συμφώνησε να ζωγραφίσει μία εικόνα με την Κοίμηση και τον Ευαγγελισμό της Θεοτόκου και γύρω έξι αγίους, μέσα σε διάστημα επτά μηνών, με αμοιβή 250 λίτρες. Ο ζωγράφος ανέλαβε να βάλει τα χρώματα και το χρυσάφι και ορίσθηκε ποινική ρήτρα, εάν δεν ετοίμαζε εγκαίρως την εικόνα(1) (βλ. εικ.).

Research Title:
The programme aims to build up an archive of Greek painters after the fall of Constantinople (1450-1830), with biographical details and an index of their works, whether portable icons or church frescoes. A systematic record of artists and their paintings for this period has not been attempted in Greece before.
